The Portuguese national results of the MeDeMAP project will be presented in a webinar on January 20th at 3 PM. The event is organized in partnership with SOPMCOM's Political Communication Working Group and will be conducted in English.
MeDeMAP - Mapping Media for Future Democracies (HE 101094984) is a Horizon Europe research initiative that aims to set out future-proof pathways to strengthen democracy through improving accountability, transparency, and effectiveness of media production while expanding active and inclusive citizenship. The project seeks to clarify the extent to which certain media, under which conditions, perform which democratic functions for which audiences, thus making it apparent what is at stake for democratic media – and for democracy itself.
The presentation will be delivered by Tatiana Chervyakova, researcher on the MeDeMAP project and research scholar at CICANT. Her work focuses on the political economies of media, comparative media systems, and the analysis of disguised mechanisms of pluralism suppression in façade democracies.
The webinar is open to academics, media professionals, and students interested in understanding how media systems contribute to democratic processes. Participants will gain insights into the Portuguese media landscape and its role in supporting or challenging democratic values.
