Conference cycle explores Media, Technique, and Aesthetics at Lusófona University

Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre will welcome a series of conferences exploring the intersections of media, technique, and aesthetics. The events will bring together researchers and artists to discuss how media structures shape creative processes across music, literature, theatre, and performativity, fostering dialogue on the relationship between technological systems and cultural experience.

The conference cycle is part of the research project "Materialidades dos Media & Estética," launched by CICANT and led by João Manuel Marques Carrilho (Jonas Runa). The team includes José Gomes Pinto, Teresa Maia e Carmo, Inês Marques, Luís Cláudio Ribeiro, Joana Bicacro, and Manuel Bogalheiro, with support from consultants Domingo Hernández Sánchez (Universidad de Salamanca) and Johan Siebers (Middlesex University London).

The project investigates how media technologies—from mechanical objects to digital devices—influence perception, taste, judgment, and artistic production. By mapping the relationship between creative acts and the media that enable them, it aims to advance understanding of how technological structures affect contemporary artistic and cultural practices.

The full program is available in the poster below. More information will be available soon.
