MeDeMAP organizes event on journalists’ and audiences’ perceptions of news integrity

Lusófona University will host the next MeDeMAP event on 19 February 2026, from 10:00 to 12:30, at the Auditório Agostinho da Silva, Lusófona – CUL (Lisbon). The session will take place in person.

Titled “Jornalistas e Audiências – Perceções Dissonantes” [Journalists and Audiences – Dissonant Perceptions], the event will explore findings from the MeDeMAP European research project, which revealed significant differences between journalists’ and audiences’ perceptions of news integrity, as well as areas of critical alignment. The discussion will focus on the implications of these results for Portugal.

The event will feature a keynote and chair by Nuno Cintra Torres (Universidade Lusófona) and contributions from a panel of media professionals and experts:

  • Jacinto Godinho (RTP, Carteira do Jornalista)
  • Tiago Bessa (Advogado, Direito Europeu)
  • José Alberto Lemos (Público, antigo Provedor do Leitor)
  • Maria Almeida (Fumaça).

The session will include a debate and Q&A, offering a unique opportunity to engage with leading researchers and practitioners on the challenges of journalistic integrity and audience perception in contemporary media.
