On 12 February, CICANT hosted the second meeting of the Permanent Forum for African Studies in Portuguese, an initiative promoted by its LabCLIP research group. The session was held online, bringing together researchers from different countries.
The meeting began with a tribute to Maria Paula Meneses, a distinguished scholar in African Studies, who passed away on 8 February. Participants acknowledged her significant academic contributions and lasting impact on the field.
The second part of the session featured presentations by three students from the Summer School of African Studies in Portuguese (2025), organised by LabCLIP. The presentations highlighted ongoing research developed within the programme, reinforcing the Forum’s commitment to supporting emerging scholars.
The Forum brings together senior and early-career researchers from Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, the United Kingdom, and the United States, fostering international dialogue and collaboration in African Studies.
The next meeting is scheduled for 9 April.
