Between the 19th and the 22nd of October took place the 9th annual conference of the European Communication Research and Education Association. This year's edition took place at Aarhus University, Denmark, with the theme "Rethink Impact". Under this motto, the academic community was invited to engage in a discussion focused on how research, academic education, and training interact with, impact on, make a difference in, and reflect upon society.
During four days, CICANT’s team participated in workshops, and parallel and poster sessions, presenting the results of several ongoing investigations.
In this year's edition, Portugal was among the top ten countries most represented at ECREA with a total of 55 researchers (in eighth place). CICANT counted the participation of 11 of its researchers - about 20% of the researchers of Portuguese nationality.
CICANT elected to ECREA's management teams
During the conference took place the elections for ECREA thematic sections' management teams. Several CICANT researchers and collaborators were elected to management positions. Researcher Sofia Caldeira was elected chair of the Digital Culture and Communication section. Besides her, researcher Maria José Brites, collaborator researcher and professor Ana Filipa Oliveira and PhD student Joana Bicarco were elected vice-chairs of the sections Audience and Reception Studies, Children, Youth and Media and Philosophy of Communication, respectively. For the next two years, CICANT will be represented in 4 of the 25 working sections of the association.
