In honor of International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, the League of Friends of the Alfândega da Fé Health Center (Liga dos Amigos do Centro de Saúde de Alfândega da Fé, LACSAF), organized an awareness-raising action with the theme “Women between the Public and Private Spheres” through the structure of care for victims GIAV (Gabinete de Apoio e Inserção à Vítima - Victim Insertion and Support Office). The event featured Carla Cerqueira, PI of the research project FEMglocal - Glocal Feminist Movements: Interactions and Contradictions (financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology, FCT, through national funds - PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021).
Recognizing the advances made by women in society over the years, this session discussed historical legacies of patriarchal systems, the struggles women have faced in achieving a place in the public sphere, the challenges of balancing personal, family, and professional lives, and the obstacles that still stand in the way of equality and equity.
