STORYline and MelCi Lab co-organise webinar on Algorithms and Intergenerational Citizenship

On 7 May 2026, the webinar “Beyond the Algorithm: The Challenge of Intergenerational Citizenship” will take place, featuring Raquel Patrício (IPB) as the keynote speaker. The initiative is co-organised by the STORYline (10.54499/2023.11571.PEX) project and MelCi Lab (Research Laboratory for Media Literacy and Civic Culture).

This session invites a critical and practical discussion on the challenges of building citizenship in a society increasingly shaped by algorithmic environments, where generations are often confined to separate digital spaces. The webinar will explore how technology may be mobilised as a means of connection between age groups, rather than a source of division, by fostering spaces of dialogue and shared learning. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of the school as a community space and the family as a key setting for civic and digital education. Through this lens, the session will highlight strategies for strengthening intergenerational exchange and promoting a more cohesive, inclusive, and democratically engaged society.

Participation is free, but registration is required. The session will be conducted in Portuguese. All those interested  can register via this link: Além do Algoritmo: O desafio da cidadania intergeracional – Preencher o formulário.

STORYline project (10.54499/2023.11571.PEX) is a national project funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), hosted by CICANT (UID/05260/2025).
