CICANT researcher awarded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship to study sustainable retail behaviour

Dr. Fabio Shimabukuro Sandes, faculty member at ESDES Business School (Université Catholique de Lyon) and integrated researcher at CICANT, has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme to develop the VISION project, a two-year research initiative focused on sustainable consumer behaviour in retail contexts.

The project will be hosted by the University of Borås (Sweden), starting in September 2026. Recognised internationally for its expertise in fashion and textile research, and home to the Swedish School of Textiles, Borås provides a leading environment at the intersection of sustainability, design, and retail innovation. The fellowship is funded by the Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council (Handelsrådet), underlining its relevance to the retail sector’s ongoing sustainability transition.

VISION investigates how retail environments can actively promote more sustainable consumption practices. It explores how both physical and digital shopping experiences can be designed to support responsible consumer choices, contributing to the development of circular and sustainability-oriented retail models.

This recognition further strengthens Dr. Shimabukuro Sandes’ international research profile in branding, digital marketing, and consumer behaviour, with a solid track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation in leading academic conferences.
