Next September, Lusófona University will host two conferences of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA).
Between the 6th and the 8th of September, the Lisbon University Center will host the conference "Contested Visibilities: Everyday politics and online imaginaries of the body", co-organised by the Digital Culture and Communication (chaired by CICANT researcher Sofia Caldeira), Gender, Sexuality and Communication and Visual Cultures ECREA sections.
The conference will address topics related to the complexity of online representations of bodies and related visual practices (e.g., producing, perceiving, curating, circulating) bringing together researchers from different areas of interest and research.
The following week, between the 12th and 14th September, it is the turn of Porto University Center to host the conference "Disrupted or disruptive audiences? From reception to participation in a post-truth era". The event is promoted by ECREA's Audience and Reception Studies Section and the researcher Maria José Brites (vice-chair) is one of the organizers.
The event aims to discuss the challenges audiences face in the context of our digitally saturated times, looking at the consequences of the pandemic on everyday routines and the rapid mediatization of numerous practices.
The conference counts with the support of SOPCOM Portugal, Lusófona University/CICANT and NOVA University/ICNOVA.
