MagLab coordinators Carla Rodrigues Cardoso and Ana Figueiras were invited to join the FIPP Sustainability Committee. The CICANT integrated researchers took part in their first meeting during the 46th FIPP World Media Congress on 5 June. Being part of this committee strengthens the ties between MagLab and FIPP, its most important partner.
The FIPP Sustainability Committee aims to foster sustainable practices within the media industry through a structured framework. This framework will be developed by drawing on existing industry standards and best practices. The committee will gather examples of best practices and pre-existing standards from across the industry and then evaluate these standards to recommend a cohesive framework and tools for FIPP members.
Additionally, the committee members will share sustainability initiatives from their own organizations to benefit the entire group and potentially the wider industry. To further support sustainability efforts, the committee will assist FIPP and its members in creating content focused on sustainability issues. This includes launching a sustainability tracker live journalism piece on fipp.com, updated monthly to keep members informed, and leading the development of external messaging that highlights industry progress in sustainable practices.
Carla Rodrigues Cardoso and Ana Figueiras' involvement underscores MagLab's commitment to advancing sustainability within the media sector. By contributing to the FIPP Sustainability Committee, they will play a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable media practices and promoting environmental responsibility across the industry.
