The first edition of CICANT Early Career Scholars’ Writing Jam is taking place today and tomorrow, 21–22 July 2025, at Lusófona University – Porto University Centre. The initiative is organised and funded by CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies, and aims to support early-career researchers in the development of their academic trajectories.
This initiative brings together a group of CICANT-affiliated researchers, in the early stages of academic path, for a two-day programme focused on academic writing, peer discussion, and collaborative reflection. The event provides participants with the opportunity to present and discuss their ongoing research projects, receive feedback, and engage in networking activities that strengthen the research community within the centre.
A central component of the programme is the support offered in developing publishable academic work. The texts produced and refined during the initiative will be compiled as chapters in the upcoming CICANT publication "Methodological Approaches to Media and Communication Research in Contemporary Contexts". This volume, part of CICANT’s internal call for publications, highlights the diversity of methodological perspectives emerging within the centre’s research community.
By fostering a space for critical exchange and collaborative learning, the Early Career Scholars group continues to play a key role in CICANT’s mission to promote excellence and innovation across different generations of researchers.
